the good canadian – a film about ‘truth before reconciliation’

Reconciliation isn’t just about our own beliefs and actions. It is about the inequalities embedded into our systems and institutions.
The Good Canadian is a film that challenges us to look past the national myth to the realities of systemic inequity, from the Indian Act to residential schools, to modern-day family separation. This film, directed by Leena Minifie (Gitxaala/British), points toward the possibility of a more honest Canadian identity and guides the journey toward truth and reconciliation.
A private screening will by held at SFU Harbour Centre in Vancouver on Friday, September 26, 2025, at 7:00 pm. You can register here to attend the screening.
The Good Canadian debuts on National Day for Truth and Reconciliation, Tuesday, September 30, at 5:00 pm Pacific (8:00 pm Eastern) on CBC and CBC Gem or 6:00 pm Pacific (9:00 pm Eastern) on APTN
